Networks specifically for legal apprentices

The networking opportunities for graduates offered a training contract with law firms, and networking opportunities for trainee solicitors, are baked-in and numerous. While most law firms and in-house legal teams will extend to solicitor apprentices the opportunity to join all teams and clubs open to other lawyers, creative thought should be given to solicitor apprentice-specific networking also, and that includes networking with apprentices at other law firms and corporates.

Joanna recommends researching existing networking offerings for solicitor and paralegal apprentices such as the Legal Apprentice Society, the Black Apprentice Network and the Muslim Apprentice Community, employer-led cross-firm events and opportunities offered by the Association of Apprentices. Joanna can link you to the right contacts for networks which already exist. This may include networking for employers with responsibility for running solicitor apprenticeship programmes.

Bespoke events

Joanna has extensive experience of designing and running legal networking events. In addition to her legal role at her previous employer, between 2017 and 2021 Joanna carried out a new events role she crafted for herself in the Alumni Network team because she has a strong interest in the importance of networks. Her five years of experience in this team gives Joanna a strong understanding of networks, and designing and organising bespoke events.
